pastries for kidsPizza Directions:

  • Spread desired amount of pizza sauce on each pie
  • For plain cheese pizza, add desired amount of cheese
  • For veggie pizza, do one layer of cheese, one layer of all the veggies and another layer of cheese
  • Pop the pizzas into the oven at 425 degrees until dough is golden

Pastries:

  • Roll out dough and cut out small squares
  • Place squares on a baking pan
  • Add half a table-spoon of jam (flavor of choice) to the middle of each pastry
  • Fold over two sides and squeeze them together (see picture)
  • Put pan in the oven at 400 degrees until dough is brown (do not over cook!)
  • For the glaze combine the sugar and water and mix
  • Once pastries have cooled off, use a spoon to pour glaze over each one
  • Let glaze harden and then eat it and love it!

Outcome:

We love making this pizza because, a. we know the kids will eat it, but b. it is a super easy way to involve the kids in the cooking process.  I let them spread the sauce and give them each a small bowl of the shredded cheese to put on the pizza.  If your child likes veggies on his/her pizza, you can encourage them to create a face on the pizza using the peppers and mushrooms as eyes, nose and a mouth.  Then the kids think its funny to eat the face parts!  The pastry dessert is really easy to make, hardly any way you can mess it up, and it tastes great!
